Bianca Ryan: Singing Prodigy




Bianca Taylor Ryan was born on September 1, 1994 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania to parents Sean and Janette Ryan. Bianca is the second oldest in a family of four, she has an older brother named Shawn, as well as a little brother and sister their names Isabella and Jagger.

Bianca's singing interest came to her at just seven years old when she would stand in front of the radio and belt out tunes to some of her fathers favorite records. It wasn't until around eight years old Bianca and her family realized she could 'hold a tune' and as she says "before I was just like 7 or 8, which is when I noticed I could sing, but then I was just like a dancer, but I mean you dance to music and you just like sing along." Bianca's parents noticed her talent when at the age of 9 the then tap dancer persuaded them to allow her to audition for Star Search a popular reality show that had made many young hopefuls into budding Hollywood stars. Bianca's parents agreed and Bianca's amazing voice landed her a place on the show, and in 2003 she competed against two other junior singers for a chance of a lifetime. Bianca sang the song The Impossible dream and her performance earned her 12 stars, however despite her wonderful performance it was Tiffany Evans who took home the title of Ultimate Junior Singer. After watching Bianca on Star Search her father Sean realized the gift that Bianca had and he took her to Sal Dupree a vocal coach, who gave Bianca lessons.

After Star Search Bianca also appeared on shows such as Showtime at the Apollo as well as  The Tom Joyner Show. In addition to those performances Bianca has sung the National Anthem for many sports teams including The New York Knicks, the New York Rangers, The Philadelphia 76ers, as well as the Philadelphia Eagles.

In 2006 at 11 years old Bianca came across a site on the Internet for a talent competition called America's Got Talent produced by America Idols Simon Cowell. When Bianca realized Cowell was involved she jumped at the opportunity and asked her parents if she could audition. In early 06 Bianca, her dad and her older brother Shawn ventured into the city and waited for a chance to audition, Bianca recalls the experience "actually it was really scary because I walked into the room and sat down, and there was a lady with a beard juggling knives right next to me, and I looked at my dad and I was like 'I am So Out' and he was like 'First place is a million bucks' I was like 'I'm back in'." And it was a good thing Bianca was back in because her incredible God given talent helped her to achieve her dreams. The judges for the show included singer Brandy, actor and musician David Hasslehoff as well as Britain's Piers Morgan. Bianca wowed the Judges with her rendition of Jennifer Holiday's And I Am Telling You, after that performance Piers Morgan told Bianca to "Change your hair, change your dress, change your shoes and you will win this tournament. I have never heard a voice like that on an eleven year old in my life, you came on stage and you blew us away." It was obvious that Bianca would return for a second week where she performed Janis Joplin's Piece of my Heart despite some of the judges comments Bianca was asked again to return, and with America voting on her side Bianca was thrilled at the opportunity at hand. Her third and final performance was to Jennifer Holiday's I Am Changing Bianca earned a standing ovation and these wonderful compliments by the judges who she had performed in front of  many times before "Bianca, in the first time we saw you, you may remember I said to you change your hair, change your clothes and you did, and change your shoes so you just got rid of them. And then the second time we saw you  the song was not the right song, I said if you get the right song and change everything your probably going to win the competition...I think your going to win the competition." after hearing these words from Piers Morgan someone who had been Bianca's toughest critic she waited with the other finalists in hope of becoming the Million Dollar Winner of America's Got Talent.

 

When the votes were in millions watched as television personality Regis Philbin opened the envelope to reveal the winner "Okay lets see now, who America voted for. And the winner of America's Got Talent and our Million Dollar act is. BIANCA RYAN." Bianca's winning moment was aired on August 17, 2006 where audiences around the country saw the beginning of an amazing career. Bianca's unaired finale performance swept the Internet as we saw a star in the making.

 

 Clips of Bianca's Million Dollar press conference were shown on entertainment shows throughout the country and the words that Simon Cowell has said about her, have made her a house hold name "Bianca Ryan is possibly the best singer I have ever heard in my life."

After her win on America's Got Talent Bianca went right to work in the studio she also appeared on many hit talk shows such as Ellen Degeneres where she announced the November 14th release of her debut Self titled Cd. After Ellen Bianca appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show, The Martha Stewart Show, The Megan Mullally Show, The CW Morning Show, The Today Show, and was asked to return to perform a song from her first Cd on the Ellen show once again. This Holiday season Bianca performed in the Philadelphia parade and was also asked to sing at the annual Christmas in Washington special in front of President Bush and the first lady. Bianca's performance was impeccable. Bianca also performed at the Disney Christmas Parade in Florida!!!


 

Aside from singing Bianca's other passions include, dance and acting. She hopes to one day become an actress "Um, you know I really want to be an actress. I really would like to have my own show you know on like the Disney Channel." Bianca's acting credit includes commercials for Chuck E Cheese and the Philadelphia Zoo, she has also appeared in the film 12 and Holding as Singing Girl.
